PAXAFE: Bringing Clarity to Cold Chain Logistics

When it comes to moving temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products, every hour and every degree matters. Late shipments, damaged vaccines, or lost inventory don’t just cost money, they impact patient health.

That’s where PAXAFE comes in.
A fast-growing startup with deep roots in logistics and data science, PAXAFE helps pharma companies reduce product loss, ensure on-time delivery, and bring much-needed automation to one of the most regulated and complex supply chains in the world: the cold chain.

From Blackhawks to Biotech Supply Chains

Chandler Williams, PAXAFE’s Chief of Staff, brings a unique perspective to the problem. After 12 years in the U.S. military—serving as infantry, a Blackhawk pilot, and finally in high-altitude drone intelligence collection, he moved into logistics at Amazon, and eventually, into his role at PAXAFE.

“A lot of sensor data and collection work. And from there I moved over into Amazon, did some logistics stuff and the natural transition from there was moving into PAXAFE and PAXAFE's been doing some cool stuff and taking a lot of different data sources and making meaningful insights from it.” — Chandler Williams, Chief of Staff, PAXAFE

That sensor intelligence mindset now powers PAXAFE’s platform, helping pharma customers gain insights they can act on.

Why PAXAFE Exists

PAXAFE’s founding story is rooted in frustration. Co-founders Ilya Preston and Ashok Seetharam kept seeing the same problem in the logistics world: companies had tons of data yet product loss & inefficiency continued. Loggers, devices, and solutions were everywhere, but actionable decisions were nowhere.

So, they built a platform that doesn’t just collect data from all the partners in the logistics ecosystem into a GxP validated temperature record (3PLs, IoT Devices, Packaging Providers, Weather + Traffic + Geo Risk)  but also makes sense of it. Originally a device company, PAXAFE evolved into a decision intelligence platform powered by Cold Chain AI and machine learning, helping logistics teams in pharma know exactly when to react, what’s happening and what to do next.

Built for Pharma, Not Just Logistics

Breaking into the pharmaceutical market isn’t easy. The compliance standards are rigorous, the sales cycles are long, and the stakes are high.

“Our target industry is pharmaceutical. As you likely know, the pharmaceutical industry is very highly regulated. Sales cycles can be very long in the Pharmaceutical industry... It's a pretty wide moat to enter just because you must have that knowledge to gain a contract.” — Chandler Williams

PAXAFE navigated that moat by assembling a team with expertise from Amazon, the military, life sciences and large digital transportation companies, blending technical, regulatory, and operational know-how into one solution.

Cleaning House with Azure

PAXAFE was originally built on AWS. But after Microsoft’s venture fund M12 invested, they saw an opportunity to make a move. The company joined Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub, received Microsoft’s Healthcare AI Certified Software designation, received Azure credits, and started migrating its infrastructure.

But it wasn’t just a lift-and-shift.

“It gave us a chance to clean up and really organize our systems,” Chandler explains. “That made a big difference for our regulatory checks and security posture. We built a quality process we’re really proud of.”

Ready to Market in 48 Hours with WeTransact

To simplify their go-to-market path, PAXAFE partnered with WeTransact to get listed on the Azure Marketplace. What could have taken weeks was done in just 48hours.

“We were hitting some final blockers—figuring out how to actually list, meet the requirements, and move into co-sell,” Chandler says. “WeTransact came in and got us over the finish line.”

Now co-sell ready, PAXAFE is working with Microsoft to jointly approach pharma customers, many of whom already trust the Microsoft ecosystem. That partnership helps cut through procurement red tape and reduces security friction during vendor evaluations.

What’s Next

PAXAFE is doubling down on growth, with a sharp focus on go-to-market momentum.

“We’re excited to co-sell with Microsoft,” Chandler says. “Our customers already use Microsoft, already trust Microsoft. So when we show up together, it makes a real difference. We can spend less time on audits and more time solving real problems.”

For the pharma world, where the stakes are high and the margin for error is low, PAXAFE isn’t just another vendor.

They’re helping the industry turn complexity into clarity and ensuring that the critical products patients rely on arrive exactly when and how they should.
